If you give to Zamzam Foundation through Zamzam UK you are supporting an organisation that spent £16.1 million on directly supporting people in need across Somalia in 2024 – 92% of total spending.
The most significant areas of programme spending were water, sanitation and hygiene (25.6%); seasonal distributions (20.9%); emergency response and livelihoods programmes (15.2%); and health and nutrition (15%). ZZF spent 10.4% on education and 4.9% on orphans and social care. The other 8% of expenditure related to project support and administrative costs.
Zamzam UK has its own bank account in the UK which is where your donation will initially land if you give through our ZZF UK website. From there we transfer funds electronically to Zamzam Foundation in Somalia.
Somalia is a largely cashless society, so almost all ZZF’s spending there is through further electronic transfers – whether that be for the primary purpose of procuring aid, for payment of staff salaries, or even for the transfer of emergency ‘cash’ assistance to individuals – which can usually be done via secure transfers to their mobile phones.

When you donate to Zamzam Foundation UK, your generosity is transformed into real, life-changing support for vulnerable families across Somalia.
We are committed to ensuring that your donation is used responsibly, ethically and effectively, reaching those who need it most.

Your donation supports Zamzam’s humanitarian programmes, which respond to both immediate emergencies and long-term needs.
Whether during emergencies or recovery periods, your support brings hope, dignity, and stability.

Dhigan Adan Mohamed lives in Dhalandool, an overcrowded camp for displaced people in the south-central city of Baidoa.
“We were fortunate to be selected as beneficiaries of Zamzam’s housing project, which has provided us with a permanent shelter,” she says. “Before we had this house, we lived in a makeshift shelter, struggling with overcrowding and lack of privacy and exposure to the elements.”
Every day is a long day for Dhigan, fetching water and preparing meals for her seven children while finding what casual work she can in the limited time in between. “With a roof over our heads, we can focus on rebuilding our lives and planning for the future,” she says.
