We are thrilled to be partnering with Somali Hikers to launch Zamzam Foundation UK’s first official fundraising challenge — Hike for Hooyo!
On Saturday, 13th December, we’ll set off together on a 12km beginner-friendly charity hike through the breathtaking Chiltern hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty famed for its rolling green landscapes, scenic trails, and peaceful woodland views.
‘Hooyo’ means mothers in Somali, and this event is all about honouring the women who gave us everything. Every step we take will support Somali mothers in need through Zamzam Foundation UK’s All Mothers Matter campaign.
Will you join us to demonstrate that all mothers matter – including the most vulnerable mums in remote areas of Somalia?

Too many mothers in Somalia face childbirth without access to skilled care, medicine, or safe facilities. This campaign aims to change that by funding:
100% of your donations go directly to Zamzam Foundation’s All Mothers Matter campaign – supporting Somali mothers on the ground in need of care and support.
Whether you’re an experienced hiker or trying your first long walk, this 12km challenge is designed for everyone.
It’s more than just a hike. It’s a chance to:
Each participant is encouraged to raise a minimum of £100, helping us reach our £5,000 goal to fund life-saving care for Somali mothers. It’s as simple as asking five friends to give £20 each.
Together, we really can save and change lives. And every pound you help us raise will be doubled in value with an extra pound from our partner the Lady Fatemah Trust, up to a maximum of £25,000.
By Hiking for Hooyo, you’re not just walking: you’re giving mothers the chance to bring their children safely into the world. Together, we can create lasting change, one step at a time.
Taking part in our Hike for Hooyo challenge is a fun, active way to make every step count for Somali mothers through the work of our Qalimow and Gololey health centres.
Together, we can make childbirth safer, strengthen families, and build healthier communities.

We can’t wait to see you all there!
